Get a credit card from local bank and pay it in time. You also can use this service to avoid common mistakes while buiding credit and pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of payments – credit-report-score.10001mb.com

      1. Having a job (already done)
      2.Bank account
3.Have some bill in your name. Phone or utility
4.Pay bill on time. Make regular deposits in bank keep balance over $100
Maintain the above and eventually you’ll be able to get a loan or credit card and eep building.

Borrow money and pay it back on time. Like with a credit card, you may need a cosigner to start out.

    • jamesbergen50 5:00 pm on February 8, 2010 Permalink

you could do it like my father did. Borrow money from every one in the county, Never pay it back. And all ways have a available line for more credit.

    • Jon 5:00 pm on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Your credit score is based mostly on:

      1. Length of credit history
      2. Payment history.
      3. Ratio of credit used to available credit.
      4. Number of credit inquiries you authorized.

If you cancel your card, you’ll be hurting your credit ratio. (#3).

You want to deliberately keep your oldest credit card open, even if you never use it.

You want to always pay the minimums of each loan on time every month.

You want to keep your available credit high, but actually only have balances equalinig 25% or less.

You want to keep your credit inquiries to a minimum. Try for no more than 3 or 4 per year for any type of loans.

You do these things and your credit score will quickly soar into the 700s.

    1:33 pm on February 8, 2010 | 4 Permalink | Reply

I just had my hair colored 3 days ago and I’m going to Cancun Mexico on Wednesday for a week. How can I protect my color from the ravages of sun and saltwater? I read that you can put sunblock in your hair, but I don’t know if that’s good for dyed hair..? Thanks in advance for your help!
Nah..there’s no way I can stay out of the ocean! I guess I can try not to get my hair wet..thanks!

    • micky <3 1:33 pm on February 8, 2010 Permalink

well obvious answer would be to wear a hat haha but you should definitely condition. just like conditioned skin helps protect the skin against uv, the same applies for you hair. also maybe to take a detangler spray or leave in conditioner spray in your beach bag to make sure it stays conditioned after you go in the pool or ocean..dry hair is going to lose its color way faster than healthy hair and salt water tends to strip moisture. also there’s some hair products available that actually have spf blockers in them so i’d call a few salons and ask for them cause they will definitely help!! i just got back from cancun in december and it was amazzzzing so i hope you ahve a good trip!!:)

there are products you can buy, but if you want a cheap solution its "baby oil" if you have long hair coat it in baby oil tye it back and plait it or if you have short hair do the same thing but keep it off your face with a head band. I personally when I dyed my hair would go straight to the showers at the beach when I got there wet my hair, apply baby oil to seal in the moisture and no one knows the diff as it looks like you just have wet hair. Cheers :-)

wear your hair in an updo. if your hair gets ruined, then next time you’ll know to go somewhere different to do your hair.

  • I lived half the year in New York and half in California – how do I file my tax return?

    1:02 pm on February 8, 2010 | 2 Permalink | Reply

I just went to HR Block in CA and they said they couldn’t file my tax return as they are not licensed to do the returns for NY.

Anybody have any ideas how I can do this? I also moved house so something like Turbo tax is out of the question.

    Thanks.

    • Max Hoopla 1:02 pm on February 8, 2010 Permalink

You would have to file part year returns in both states. If you lived in New York City, you have to file there too.

New York requires all preparers except attorneys and CPAs to register and, if they expect to prepare 10 or more returns, pay a $100 fee. Apparently your H&R Block California preparer doesn’t want to be bothered with this or doesn’t know how to do it.

As a California tax practitioner, I have done a few NY returns and they can be challenging.

AH..I was in this situation about 6 years ago. Moved from MD to CA in the middle of the year. If memory serves me right, there’s a nonresident form I had to fill out for CA. Sorry but don’t remember how I handled MD taxes.

You might be best to go NY government’s tax site to find out how to handle the NY portion.

    • Herry 11:58 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

You can copy the music from computer to your ps3. If you don’t have the ipod music files on your computer, you can use an ipod to computer transfer program to help. I personally use Cucusoft iPhone/iTouch/iPod to Computer Transfer. It helps me to transfer my songs/videos/photos from ipod to my computer directly and safely. It works well for me,you can give it a try.
      Free download it at: http://dvd-video-soft.com/ipodconverter/ipod-itouch-iphone-transfer.html

      Hope it helps.
You can keep asking on http://answers.yahoo.com or use http://www.ask.com to search more

    • Steve 11:58 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Its not possible since Apple don’t let you use iPod’s as external drives anymore as far as I know. You really need a USB key or an external hard drive (to transfer music from your computer, transferring directly from ipod is not possible), or you could burn a cd and then the PS3 can copy the songs from it, but this would take a while and you wouldn’t be able to fit much on the CD.

Alternatively, there is software that allows you to stream the music from your computer to your PS3, wirelessly I mean, where the music stays on your computer, but the ps3 can play it (and copy them over to the ps3 hard drive, although this takes a while)

Hi, i know you can transfer all you music to your computer, then maybe you can transfer to your ps3, and to transfer your ipod music to computer i recommend you try iPod Transfer, it enables you to backup files from iPod to PC, import video, audio files or folders from PC to iPod without iTunes and transfer files from one iPod to another one directly.
      Download here:

It is easy to use, try it.

you cant! due to copyright reasons the disk mode on ipods and the ability to send files by bluetooth have been removed (undre pressure from record labels in return for removing copy protection from iTunes music).

you need to export the files as MP3 in itunes using a flash drive then connect that to the PS3 a direct PS3 iPod link isnt possible as technically its illegals so they make it so it wouldn’t work

  • How do I get gas out of my oil tank in SeaDoo?

    11:58 am on February 8, 2010 | 4 Permalink | Reply

My wife took our SeaDoo and accidently put gas in the oil reservoir. It has not been started but she said she put at least 3 gallons in there. How in the world do I drain it? Can anyone walk me through it? It is a 2001 Sea Doo RX

    • John C 11:58 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

I’m sure your "wife" is sorry. I’m just kidding, she’s surly not the first person to do it. First i doubt she put 3 gallons in there. It only has 1.6 gallon capacity. Anyway, drain the oil with a simple siphon. Get out as much as you can. then fill it up with oil. Because the gas is thinner then the oil it should have no problem just being injected with the oil(as long as it’s not too much). Just go ahead and run it, once everything is out you will be fine. good luck

    • trunorth 11:58 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Gonna have to pump it out.

I use what is called and Oil Boy to change oil.

It is a hand pump with 6 quart reservoir. Place one end in the tank and pump away.

    • mike P 11:58 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

I agree with above listing. However any time it is questionable about the age or quality of the oil. I always add a 1 to 3 oz per gallon of gas of oil. The premix is an added level of safety. It may smoke a little more but when its smoking its lubricating. The worst that happens is you may have to clean the plugs after the tank is ready for a fill up.

  • How do I get my 401k money?

    9:03 am on February 8, 2010 | 5 Permalink | Reply

I want to cash out a 401k from a previous employer. I called the bank and was told that the employer has a trustee on the account and I need to talk to them. The employer will not return my calls. What are my option?

    • Judy 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

You will be making a huge mistake by cashing out a 401K.
You will not only pay taxes on that money, you will also pay a 10% penalty if you are under 59.
If you take the money out – expect to keep about 35% so you can write a big fat check to uncle sam next tax time.
Make sure you keep the money aside – this is how people get in tax trouble.

Call up your bank or a discount broker like Charles Schwab.
They will take care of everything for you basically do everything besides sign your name.
You want to ask for an IRA roll over account.

Please, please do not take money out of a retirement account.
You will regret it for life.

You do not get it till you are retired. Call the Trustee and see if the contract allows you to roll it over into an IRA

    • William 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Every 401(k) plan has a plan custodian or trustee. It will be shown on your account statements. Contact them – the bank is correct, you have to go thru the plan trustee.

    • ThinKabootit 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

You probably don’t REALLY want to do that, unless you are at least 59 years old (or you have a terminal illness), because you will lose at least half of it in taxes and penalties…

That 401(k) account is in YOUR name, and the brokerage holding it has been sending you annual statements, you can get their contact information from one of those statements. Your former employer (unless they actually held the money themselves) has no obligation to help you, but if you are polite to them, I am sure they will help….but try not to forget they will be doing you a favor…

  • How do I go about hand-washing cloth diapers?

    9:03 am on February 8, 2010 | 6 Permalink | Reply

    Hello,

my washer and dryer are out of commision at the moment and I’d like to hand wash my daughters prefold cloth diapers. Since I’ve never had to do it before, I’m not sure where to start. I’ve put them into some cold water to soak and I’ve shaken off any loose stools.

Has any one ever resorted to hand washing? Buying disposables is not an option for our family.

    Thanks for any advice!

    • terrimotherof6 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

It looks like I am the only one who has gone the "au natural" route, lol. There is really too much on this to write it here but i copied a web site addy for you to go there & look it up.

      http://www.diaperjungle.com/washing-cloth-diapers.html

I used to dump the stool in to the toilet right after changing her. Then I would put the dirty diaper in a 5 gal bucktet with water & laundry soap. I kept it in the laundry room.

Rubbing the diapers together in soapy water & dunk them into the soapy water repeatedly till the stain is out.

You might think that you should use MORE soap in hand washing but the truth is you should use less, especially since you’ll be soaking them in soapy water till washing. Rinse them twice & don’t scrub them during the rinsing.

You can also look up hand washing on youtube.com folks like us put up videos to show how things are done.

I never boiled my diapers in my canning pot, I don’t imagine boiled poop stains smell very good!

    • Jeanbug 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Back in the days before washing machines, gals boiled diapers on the stove. These kettles were huge enamelware pots that held about 5 gallons of water. If I recall correctly, one cup of borax was added to the water, along with a bit of soap; then the diapers were boiled for about 30 minutes or longer.

So, you can do the same ~ providing you have a large enough pot to hold them in. Just makes sure to sterilize the pot after you’ve finished with the laundry :)

PS enamel water bath canners make a great utensil for boiling diapers in ~ you should be able to find them at hardware stores, discount stores for $20-30.

    • Judy 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

For cloth diapers I always cleaned all the poop off in the toilet and that was after those diaper changes as soon as possible before putting them into the diaper pail. Then when I washed the diapers I put them in a cold water soak with a cup of bleach. Allow them to soak about an hour. Save your hands and use a laundry stick to move the diapers around a bit while soaking. Use the laundry stick to agitate the diapers to make sure that they get clean. After do a good rinse water so all the bleach is removed. Lightly wring out each diaper. Use hot water and a good laundry soap but don’t over do on the soap because it isn’t needed after having the bleach disinfect the diapers. Use your laundry stick to agitate the diapers and keep your hands out of the water so you don’t burn your hands. Let them in the hot water and soap about 20 minutes while agitating with the laundry stick. Finally, empty the hot water and then switch to cool water and wring the diapers out. Do two more good rinses with cold water and wring each diaper out. Hang to dry and diapers are perfect for using again without and soap or bleach in them. My children never had a diaper rash. It’s also nice to have a pair of rubber gloves to save your hands. If you are hand washing it is best to wash each day to keep a good stock of diapers on hand for all the time. Larger batches are harder to do because of using larger containers for too many diapers. A lot of old fashion work. Best of luck.

We handwashed all our clothes while traveling in South America. As someone else mentioned, one of the keys to success is doing it daily and not allowing it to pile up.

You have gotten some good advice here about the specifics of cleaning the body wastes out of the diapers. It is mainly a matter of rinsing well. I have found better success when working with only a few pieces at a time rather than the amount you might put into a washing machine. It is easier to swish the water through the fabric and to be sure you are getting everything clean.

The following article, How to Live Without a Washer and Dryer, gives instructions for washing clothes by hand. http://www.ehow.com/how_5195802_live-washer-dryer.html

Handwashing is not hard, but takes time and figuring out a technique that works for your circumstances. We did it in a shower without any hot water. It can be done!

    • Tracey Seth 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Is there a laundromat in your area? Because that’s what I would do before hand washing them.

In fact, you could wash you laundry there and hang it to dry at your house if you need to save money. You are not seriously washing all the laundry by hand are you? What on earth for?

    • Jodi 9:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Brave mommy!! Soaking in a wetpail that is changed daily is a must in this case. Do you have access to a washing board? 1st: knock off as much poo in the toilet as possible, hand rinse in tub/sink/utility tub 2nd: place soiled diaper in pail with water and baking soda, must change water daily if not washing daily!! 3: wash day, dump water into bath tub to drain, rinse diaper again in fresh water, fill up tub enough to cover diapers with water, add detergent during filling, if you have a wash board- rub diapers again board, otherwise knead like you would bread dough 4th: drain dirty water and rinse. 5th hang outside (weather permitting) hang over shower bar, clothes line, etc. they are going to be a bit stiff from line drying. If you have more questions, feel free to contact me directly

  • How can a Peruvian Lawyer become a Lawyer in California?

    7:42 am on February 8, 2010 | 2 Permalink | Reply

My wife is a lawyer in Peru. She is interested in becoming a lawyer in California. What is the quickest and easiest route for her to take to become elligible to take and pass the California Bar Exam?
Thanks for the two answers so far. I know that of course much studying will be involved, but the main thrust of my question is, what must she do to become ELIGIBLE to take the Bar Exam? I understand that if you are a lawyer from an English Common Law Country (e.g. England) then you can just take the bar exam (presumably after having studied for it, but that is up to you). As a Peruvian lawyer, though, what must she do to become eligible to take the bar exam?

    • SergioPL 7:42 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Well, that will actually require a lot of studying. The main reason is because laws in CA are different from the laws in Peru. After that, she should be able to take a test in CA.

I’ve used many types of eyeliners and makeup, and they all do the same. They smudge under my eyes and then it’s hard to get off. I’ve alos noticed that I have dark circles under my eyes?? How do I fix these problems? HELP

For dark circles, use a concealer. I love Claudia Stevens dark circle concealer (sold at Sally Beauty Supply) it’s flesh toned, so you can wear it alone without a foundation over it, and it works great. You just dab a few spots of it on and blend it in. Put a little powder over it to set it and keep it from smearing. As for eyeliner, it sounds like the problem is you are using a cheap pencil liner. Pencil liners smudge a lot, especially if they are cheap. If you don’t want to use liquid liner, then get a better brand of pencil like Revlon Colorstay pencil liner. It’s virtually smudge-proof.

Eye make-up is only hard to get off if you are not using the right products, its not supposed to come off with just water, so try an eye make-up remover. Garnier make-up removing wipes work great. You can also use vaseline to take off black eye make-up but try not to get it inside the eye or your vision will be blurry. Just apply, rub and wipe off with cotton balls or tissue.

first, get more sleep, second, use the right kind of makeup remover, third, it will eliminate dark smudges and look better if you do not use eyeliner on ur bottom lid. using clear mascara with lengthen without making it look bad. best answer plz

I’m confused. Are the dark circles caused by the eyeliner?
If so….get Maybellines new eyeliner in the lil pots. THey’re waterproof and last all day.
If the circles are your skin color…get concealer from LA Minerals…lasts all day!!!

      For dark circles, use concealer.
For eyeliner smudges, either buy better eyeliner OR set the eyeliner with an eyeshadow of the same color or a translucent setting powder.

A mixture of almond oil and honey should be applied on the affected area before bath daily and massaged for a few minutes regularly to lighten dark circles. Check out http://usefulinfo-darkcircles.blogspot.com/ for more info.

  • I am getting my associate in Healthcare. After I graduate, how do I get into a nursing school to get my RN?

    5:00 am on February 8, 2010 | 4 Permalink | Reply

What are the requirements for entering a nursing program? Am I wasting my time getting my Assoc. in Health?

    • Jill 5:03 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

Your associate’s in health care might not be totally useless, at the very least you probably completed the general education courses (English, Speech, Math, Psychology etc.) and perhaps some of the common pre-requisites. The most common ones for all nursing programs are general biology, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology. Some also require nutrition, microbiology, medical terminology. It will vary from school to school, so you’ll need to do some research of the nursing programs in your area to find out exactly what you need. Find out how the schools rank their applicants for admission so you have an idea of where you will stand. Hopefully you kept a high GPA during your studies, as nursing programs are highly competative for entry and a high GPA is necessary.

Depends what the coursework is. To get into the program need Microbiology, Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, and a decent math class. So if these classes are in the associates degree in health it seems reasonable. You’ll also need a good GPA and experience in the field (as a patient care tech or whatever) always looks good. It’s worth it!!!

I don’t understand why people are unaware that if you have a 2 year degree in Nursing, you can take the board exam (same exam that ppl w/ 4 yr degree takes) and you become an LPN.

Grant it you may not get paid the same amount as an RN w/ a BSN, but you can work sooner and
at the same time go back to school part time to get your advanced degree…

      Summary
2 yr degree – you finish sooner
      you get a job sooner
you can go back to school part time
you can get your employer to pay for your schooling.

why not shoot for something short-term in the medical field such as medical billing/coding, phlebotomist, massage therapy, patient care tech, etc. The reason I asked is because the community colleges offer an ADN(associate degree in nursing). I figure if you go for something short-term 4-9mth training, you can work and go to school part-time to complete your pre-reqs for the nursing program, pay for school because ccolleges are cheaper than 4yr universities. The nursing program whether bachelors or associates is just 2 yrs. and you can sit for your NCLeX. Not saying your degree in health care is totally useless, but you dont need an associates to get a bachelors and you don’t need this degree to get in a nursing program. Many people are just are not aware they can transfer credits without earning a degree.

Also my question to you is what types of jobs will an associate in healthcare get you? You know…what types of certifications will you or can you receive to find a job upon completion. It sounds good, but I think it may not specifically train you to work in a particular field without gaining additional certification. Just think about it….

I have an xbox vga cable running to my lcd monitor, but I want to capture my gameplay through my PC, to post on youtube..etc. How would I go about doing this? And I use decently high resolution. I’ve been searching for vga capture cards, but they are too expensive. Is therea simply way to do this without the headache of buying multiple items, or spending over 100 dollars?

  • How do I load an operating system onto a rebuilt computer?

    3:58 am on February 8, 2010 | 3 Permalink | Reply

My dad gave me a computer that someone built for him but did not load an operating system on it. I have the disks to do this but I am not sure how I am supposed to do this.
I put the disk in but nothin happens when I turn on the compuer.

    • Chr1stoph3r C 3:58 am on February 8, 2010 Permalink

The normal procedure is to turn the computer on just long enough to open the CD tray, put in the first disk (if there is more than one) close the tray and then turn the computer off, wait a couple of seconds and then turn it back on again. You may get a prompt that says "hit any key to boot from CD". After that it should walk you through the installation. You may have to let it partition and format the drive for you depending on what condition the hard drive was in when you got it. Just let it partition and format where it wants to or use the arrow keys to direct it to the largest partition size.
Good luck! Its really easier than it sounds. :^)

Insert the CD into the CD drive and boot up with it. Then answer the questions on the screen when you are prompted.

  • How do I refill my Thorens Oriflam petrol lighter?

    3:56 am on February 8, 2010 | 1 Permalink | Reply

I have recently bought a Thorens Oriflam petrol lighter. I’m not sure if I have the right fuel, or how to refill it! I have Ronson lighter fluid, I don’t if this is OK for a Thorens lighter, or if it is all the same.

To take the lighter apart I pull the base out, on the top of which there are two holes, both are empty one with a screw in it. Where do I put the fuel?

Probably an hourly fee for the time to discuss and prepare, most would charge $150.00 an hour and charge for a half hour.~~

One thing you could do is apply and get a prepaid credit card that can help to rebuild your credit rating. The account now card is great for this and everyone is approved, check out http://www.topprepaidvisa.com or http://www.topprepaidmastercard.com. They offer alot of great information on prepaid credit cards and you not only would help your credit rating but also have access to a prepaid card that can be used just like a regular credit card.

      DISPUTE IT ALL

I personally used Credit Repair Magic. There is a video at the site that tells you in their own words why you should pick this self directed software product and avoid all of the junk that is out there and specifically why to avoid credit repair firms that charge monthly fees to do it for you. Check it out because it make alot of sense.

The main power of this program is that it is self-directed and not do-it-yourself. A reasonable comparison would be to some of the better self-directed income tax programs that are so popular now even including video and audio instructions! This software takes you step-by-step through a point and click method that automates all of the output that is going to the credit agencies. You do not need to know legalese or not even an address because the software takes care of it for you
