I was told they sell foam for this, but Im not sure what its called, and if the entire pipe needs it, or certain areas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

USA Spray foam as previously mentioned – such as Great Stuff – is ok and will do the job. However, the stuff burns quickly. The international residential code requires that all holes between floors be sealed with a FIRE STOP sealant. They sell it in a spray can or caulking in a tube. The tube will take care of at least a dozen pipes if the holes are not huge. You only need to seal the hole with a bead of caulk about 3/8" thick. It is only about $4 per tube. Make sure whatever you buy is tested to ASTM E84 or E814. That way, if the floor below is on fire, the smoke and flame will not be able to penetrate through those holes, which gives you more time to get out.

You can purchase expansion foam in aerosol cans designed to fill gaps when installing doors and windows in new construction. This would take care of filling the gaps where the pipes penetrate the walls and ceiling/floor spots to minimize or eliminate the smoke infiltration into your space.
