did you say BMCC?
That school is like another high school. The kids dont care and they smoke weed right on campus. The profs are very leniet ( the kids dont wanna learn, the prof is not going to teach)

As for living in the city. Go on craigslist and find a roomate. I mean almost everywhere is pretty easy to commute to Manhattan cause they are a lot of buses and train transfers.

yea...BMCC is just high school all over again. and when it comes to rent, good luck. i have friends going to college in the city that are being forced to move out of state. i suggest moving into one of the outer boroughs or shaking up with a roommate because making rent on your own as a student and with jobs not being available is going to be hell. there are jobs out there if you know where to look tho, it's just handling work and school is going to be tough. good luck! wish you the best! and welcome to ny!

Going from 18 yrs old to 19 is not much of a difference, so of course colleges will have that HS feel. Most do, unless you're going to NYU, or Columbia.

Anyway, you're better off living in the outer boroughs like Brooklyn or Queens. Rents are cheaper and close to the city. If you still want to live in the city, then the east village and uptown are the places to live for "cheaper" rents but still on the high side compared to the boroughs.

Economy is rough, but you can still get gigs bartending, waitressing which can get you decent money.

good luck
