I'm painting finished wood, how much do I have to sand it before painting?
I’m painting all the woodwork in my bedroom white. How much do I need to sand it before I paint it? Just rough it up or does all the finish have to be removed? Also, the room is part extension and art of the original house, so the extension has wood that is just stained, the original part has wood that was originally painted and then painted and lacquered to make it look like stained wood. Do I need to sand off all the lacquer when I repaint the old part?

How do I edge a curved sunken room with laminate flooring?
In my house there is a sunken room and one corner that connects the hallway/walkway is curved. I want to lay laminate on the walkway and then drop it down into the sunken room. In essence i want it all laminate. On the drop down, it will be like a stair side, however how do i make the wood contour to the curve. So basically there are two curves to deal with: the one with the edging, and the one with the vertical flooring.

I want to dry my shirts, but the thing is they’re already pretty small and I don’t want them to shrink any more. I’ve done the hanging it up option, but the thing is I don’t have enough space or time to hang up all 10 shirts up on hangars. Would I dry them on air dry in the drier?

How do I extend my uncovered patio?
We moved into a house last month, and there’s a small backyard with a retaining wall bordering the back. There’s an uncovered patio that we want to extend into either a deck or use paver (either stone or brick would go with the masonry).
I can’t decide on either a deck or paver, and once that’s done, I’d really prefer that it would be covered. But I’m not sure how this is going to work….

How do I get rid of the foul odor coming from the drain of my sink?
The sink has only been used a handful of times and there has been no food put in the sink yet. The pipes, drain, and sink are brand new as is the stainless steel sink. The only thing I have put down the drain is leftover milk from cereal but I use the water while rinsing the bowl out. In addition, the smell is a little sour smelling. Where could this smell be coming from and how do I get rid of the smell?

Here's a tough one: How do I build a corner doorway?
The current setup is 2 walls with a doorway on one like this: __ ]
and I want to trim back that one wall and build up the other wall to form a caddy-corner doorway, complete with a door. I know how to build a regular wall, but how do I form this kind of doorway?
note: none of the walls are load-bearing.
