  • How long should I give the insurance company to respond to my claim before following up? (Health Insurance)?

    11:04 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I filed a claim with my health insurance carrier (the provider is out of network and does not file for me).

I sent the claim USPS Certified Mail, including all necessary claim forms and an explanation of the claim.

How long should I give the insurance company to respond before following up? Is 15 business days enough, or should I give them more time?

  • Whole Life vs. Term Insurance?

    11:03 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

People always ask about whole life vs. Term Insurance and the insurance salespeople always defend Whole life and trash Suze Orman (not a fan of her anyway)… But they fail to prove the point with real hard numbers. Show me how Whole Life beats Term with the additional premium saved being invested in a Total Stock market index fund or other no load investment at a Vanguard or other low cost provider.
BTW – I understand it very well. Financial Analyst picked up on my point in his first sentence.
I meant Financial Answer Guy, see above.

  • What value does insurance companies go by to determine if car is totaled or not?

    11:03 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I have 2001 honda civic ex with 140,600 miles on it. I recently wrecked it and the body work, paint, and labor is coming up to 00. There is some work under the hood that needs to be done, but I was told to get a seperate estimate for that and contact the insurance company. How much does the repairs have to amount to before the car is considered totaled???

  • Do car insurance companies look at your mileage?

I notes a significan’t drop in my monthly quote if I lied about how many miles I intended on driving on a regular basis…

  • Which car insurance company has the lowest rates?

    11:01 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

Due to a terrible mix-up with State Farm, I’m going to have to leave them. It’s been years since I shopped for car insurance; for a 23 year old married woman with a great credit score and no tickets or accidents, who would you recommend getting a quote from?

I’m looking for the lowest possible price…

  • Where can i buy an cheap auto insurance?anybody know?

    9:46 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I’m 19 years old and I have had my license for about a year. I have no speeding tickets and have never been in a wreck. My driving record is picture perfect. I have been driving my moms car and she has had me under her insurance so it was really cheap. But I’m getting ready to buy an 06′ Chevy Cobalt and where I am buying it off a car lot, she cant afford to put me under her name on insurance, because I will have to get full coverage as where as before I had liability. Is there a place in WV or somewhere online that offers reasonable prices on full coverage insurance for someone of my age. My mom is telling me my insurance is going to be about as much as my car payment. Is there any way to get it lower? I need a cheap place for insurance! Thanks.

  • Do my parents need to adjust my status in their life insurance policy?

    9:01 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

After getting married, do my parents need to change my status from single to married in the life insurance coverage?

What if I will not tell them that I got married? And I will be buying my own life insurance anyway, with my husband to be.

Sorry if I am totally ignorant about this.

  • Will my current health insurance company add an exclusion rider if I change plans?

    7:06 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I’m looking to update my health insurance coverage. I received an offer from a different company than I’m currently with, however they have included an exclusion rider. My current health insurance covered what this other company is excluding. If I contact my current health insurance company and change my plan (rather significantly), is it likely that they will use this chance to also add an exclusion rider?

It is more than likely that I won’t need to go in for anything excluded as my treatment is over, however if I can get insurance without the rider, all the better.
My new plan would have less benefits and a much higher deductible.

  • Should I get additional life insurance, if I have substantial coverage thru employer?

    7:04 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I am in my late 20’s and have 2 daughters. Thru my employer I have about million group term life insurance policy plus death benefit thru vested pension plan. Should I go ahead and purchase additional term life insurance from the 3rd party or would it be the waste? I cannot afford permanent life insurance policy due to extremely high premiums.

  • Does auto insurance cover a person or an automobile? What if someone drives your insured car and they have none

    5:28 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

If you drive someone’s car who has insurance on their car but you don’t have any auto insurance and you get in a wreck does their insurance cover it or could you get a ticket for driving without insurance? Would you be an uninsured motorist even if the car you drove was covered by someone elses insurance?
the car I would be driving is covered by the friend’s insurance. I just dont have any insurance since I sold my car
What about my husbands car? Am I allowed to drive his car when I have no insurance and my name isnt on his policy? But he does have insurance
