  • American Funds Mutual Fund for beginners?

    11:03 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I’m brand new to investing and I want to start putting into mutual funds. I have tried to read up on them, but none of it makes any sense to me.

People have been telling me that I should go with an American Funds mutual fund, but I have no idea which one to go with.

I have went to my banks and credit unions that I have accounts with, but they seem to be trying to push me in places that will profit them more then me, it seems…

So does anyone have any suggestions on which American Funds mutual fund would be good for someone that just wants to put a little into it each month and let it grow…

I know this is probably an horrible question to answer but any advise or help would be appreciated.

    a) What is meant by the term ‘buying off the plan’?
    b) What simple rules for investing in property are suggested under the property section?
    c) Does this site only offer residential properties for sale? Explain.
    d) Why do you believe real estate sites such as this one have become so popular in recent years with people seeking to invest in property?
    e) Give this site a rating out of 10 based on how easy it is to navigate, its presentation and the relavenace of informaton contaied on the site.

The site doesn’t lead to where its supposed to (cos it was changed) but any attempts to answer these questions would be appreciated =)

    cheers!

Also, I have great themes for nightclubs and ideas for businesses how do I go about selling them or getting someone to invest in my business ideas?

A friend of mine is separating from her husband. They have agreed to divide the contents of the house, but the home is financed in both names. He has agreed to take the home and finish paying for it.He is also giving her half of what they have invested thus far in the house. My question is: How does she get her name off the loan? She wants to buy another house but her credit won’t pass because it shows that her name is on the first loan.

  • Which online bank has the interest rate to start a savings account?

    7:02 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I got 0 to start with. I pick online banks because I really don’t need the brick and mortar types for this type of account and I heard they have better interest rates. I want to set up a savings account where I can store and gain interest. I have no plans on withdrawing fr: this account, maybe for special purchasing/ investing projects. Or is there a better option for me to save long-term?
I meant to ask "Which online bank has the BEST interest rate to start a savings account?"

  • Is investing in CD’s a good way to re-build your credit, once you’ve paid off all of your debt?

    5:08 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

I read somewhere that, once you pay off all of your debt you have to re-establish it somehow. I read that buying a few CD’s is a good way to do. By doing so, the credit companies will see that you are spending your right, and saving also in the process. Is this advice ill advised, or is it not?

  • Getting deduction benefit from investing in IRA and than breaking it when not working in USA?

    1:05 am on January 31, 2010 | 0 Permalink

To save on my US tax return
If I invest say 4000 in IRA now, than I get a deduction of same amount in my tax returns. So effectively as per my tax bracket I save {15% federal and 6% state tax = 21% total saving which will be around 0 savings}..

Now assume I go back to my country and break the IRA in some year when my USA income is zero. So I pay no income tax since I will fall under the limit of {standard deduction + exemption}.
The only thing I pay is 10% penalty which will be around 0.

So effectively I saved 0 – 0 = 0 by investing in to IRA and breaking it when going back.

So my question is that is this calculation correct ?? or
I will not save this amount ??

    Pls advice. ??
